International Links

In September 2008 the School received the full International School Award from the British Council, in recogntion of our outstanding work in the field of International Education.
Our main link at the moment is with Oakhurst Primary School in Capetown, South Africa (see photo). We have received funding from the British Council and the Global School Partnerships to facilitate this link.
Ms Chan went to Capetown during October half term. She presented an assembly to Oakhurst informing them all about St Andrew's and Manchester. She also worked with every class at Oakhurst during her week there, learning about the South African education system.
Mrs Marks, a teacher from Oakhurst, visited us in June 2011. She presented an assembly to the whole school where we all learned a lot about life in South Africa. She worked with every class during the week and each child undertook at least one activity related to South Africa.
Mr Fisher was lucky enough to visit Oakhurst for a week in November 2011, working with every class there and delivering an assembly, where he taught them some silly songs.
This academic year we plan to continue the link with a joint project on The Olympics and other shared initiatives. We hope to be able to welcome more teachers from Oakhurst in 2012.
